Kameryn Alexa Carter is a black poet. She is a founding co-editor of Emergent Literary, a journal of work by black and brown artists. Kameryn is the author of New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh (Bloomsbury Academic, 2025) and Antediluvian (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2026). She was a Visiting Teaching Artist at the Poetry Foundation, creating and conducting a class titled “Standing Outside Myself: The Black Ecstatic”. Her work has been published in Bennington Review, Torch Literary Arts, The Best American Poetry 2023, Voicemail Poems, and other such lovely places. She can be found basking in golden hour on the southside of Chicago.
